Eiffel Tower – When you think of Paris you’ll probably think of the Eiffel tower, one of the the most famous attraction in the Earth. Built in 1889, the tower stands 1,000 feet and can be seen from all over the city. If you are a fearless, you can climb the 1,665 steps or take an elevator to the top. The tower has several restaurants, a bar and souvenir shop. Don’t miss the tower after sunset for a stunning view of the lights of Paris.
Arc de Triomphe – This magnificent arch commemorates the victory of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Even though it was completed long after Napoleon’s reign the structure is the showpiece at Place Charles de Gaulle. The unknown soldier (from WWI) lay to rest there, on the arch’s base.
Louvre Museum – Housed in the Louvre Palace and once home to French royalty, this is one of the best museums to see all over the world. The Louvre is home to many notable paintings like the Mona Lisa and works by other renowned artists.
Notre Dame Cathedral – The construction for this grand Gothic cathedral began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII and was completed around 1345. The result is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. The view from the north tower of the cathedral give a breathtaking view of the city. Notre Dame cathedral is 110 feet high with stunning architectural features like sexpartite vaulting and flying buttresses.
Champs-Elysees – Possibly the most famous street in the whole world the, Avenue des Champs-Elysees is definitely the most famous and prestigious in Paris. It stretches from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, covering about a mile in length and 235 feet in width. This beautiful tree lined avenue has some of the finest in designer article of clothing boutiques, sidewalk cafes and cinemas.
Rodin Museum – Dedicated to France’s most popular sculptor, Auguste Rodin, this museum is home to “The Thinker” and “The Kiss“. The museum was an hotel when it opened in 1919 and was after used by the sculptor as his residence. Rodin donated his sculptures to the French government on condition that the hotel be turned into a museum. The museum is set amidst a beautiful garden with displays of sculptures throughout.
